Well, it's time for the next adventure.
I've just accepted a new job, SMOG Tech in a Test-Only station over in San Mateo.
No matter how hard I've tried, (so far...) I just haven't become a 'good mechanic.'
I'm a lot better than when I started, but something just doesn't click.
This job pays a little more, ( I think. More on that later,) but is just another stepping stone.
Sorry, Charlie...
For one thing, I work 6-days a week.
I really need the money right now, but I can't live with that for too awful long.
I ain't got much time left for mountain hiking, etc...
Hell, I'm almost 60 already.
(You didn't see that.)
Anyway's, I start my new job the 15th.
I turned in my notice yesterday at work, (for the 10th.)
I also let my Sat job know today for the 11th, however, they let me know today was my last day.
(They have a permanent guy starting next Sat.)
(That's kinda too bad, because I was counting on that money for...)
I left myself open from the 11th, (10th now,) to the 14th on purpose.
I'm not going to get Sat's off on this job, so... what can I do for one last blowout?
And... what money am I going to be able to use for it?
I figure Sat, Sun, Mon, and Tues, and make it to work for Wed.
Big Sur? (McWay Falls?)
Feather Falls?
Grand Canyon?
(Naw, Too far and cost too much for this trip. Sorry, Charlie.)
A different part of Yosemite?
A different park... (meaning a different type of park completely; Lassen, for instance?)
Cheese-Whiz, Maynard, where do I go from here?
(P.S. The picture is of the 'Labyrinth at Land's End,' which is about as far N.W. as you can go in SF. It's where the ocean meets the bay, (sorta.))
